Board Retreats
Using a detailed work plan and strategic issues identification process, MedTrend works with clients to develop a focused agenda to result in a high impact board retreat. A typical retreat planning process includes the following:
- Interview retreat participants to understand current issues, perspectives and hoped for outcomes.
- Identify top strategic issues requiring focused board conversation and decision making.
- Confirm key issues with the board chair and CEO.
- Guide the CEO and staff to develop needed content.
- Develop a focused agenda and processes for deep engagement.
- Facilitate the retreat for focused, clear results and desired outcomes.
- Document results and develop required next steps with the CEO and Chair.
Board Development
Governance plays a key role in the success of the organization. MedTrend provides expertise and tools to both perform an overall assessment of board strength and opportunities for improvement that includes self assessment in combination with a MedTrend assessment. The assessment then leads to development of a plan to improve 2-3 key areas, and can include facilitation of retreats to complete any of the following:
- Clarify board core functions and identify strategies for improvement in weak areas
- Clarify areas considered strategic versus operational
- Develop and clarify the board member job function or job description
- Identify the best board structure, including committee structure, committee charter statements
- Identify needed board calendar and standing agendas to ensure strategic focus
